All viable projects need to have solid bases and Bodega Balcona’s are:
100% production of wines from our own vines.
The Partal being based on the sexagenarian low-production Monastrell.
The diversity of soil that provides the complexities of our wine.
Microclimate: Outstanding of which are the summer day-night temperature spreads, the evening and early morning dew, and the winter snow.

Respect for the vines and the natural production process: For vine cultivation we use natural organic compost and whenever possible we use sulphur and copper for fitosanitory treatments. In the winery we work with natural local yeasts that yield the note that is characteristic of wines from our land. To maintain body our filtration is light and for this reason the indication of naturalness will be reflected by the occasional incident of sediment in bottles.

Selective manual harvesting: The best bunches are handpicked from each vine and collected in 20kg boxes.

Distinct: Because of the Aceniche Valley’s soil compositions, microclimates and grape varieties we are sure that the Partal has a very special personality.

Distinct soils: Clay with abundance of loose stone; lime, reds, whites and blacks form the soils of our particular landscape.

Distinct microclimates: Mere meters separate plots where the longer cycle Monastrell escapes exposure to frosts from plots where other shorter cycle varieties are cultivated.

Distinct varieties: Monastrell, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon for the 37 Barricas. And old rootstock Monastrell, Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot for our Partal.

Time for time: in these modern times where hustle is the order of the day our philosophy assumes that great wines need to take their time:

Time to wait for the grapes to ripen; time for maceration in the tank to achieve structure; time for maturing in the best French oak barrels; time in the wine rack for the wines to assemble and round off; time for them to breath after opening, and time to enjoy them sip by sip.

Life / Shades: Long bottle life and wines full of hues.
